Bonjour mes amis! In this part, I will familiarize you with the French alphabet and pronunciation rules. This is important knowledge for any student of French, so pay close attention! By learning the alphabet and pronouncing words correctly, you’ll be well on your way to sounding like a pro!

But how to do that?

First, follow the Youtube channel LearnFrenchFun on which we post videos every 15 days to help students learn French. There is a special playlist on phonetics so that you can practice learning French pronunciation quickly.

The BEST method is to practice your French orally! Of all the methods, the more you speak, the better you will get.

Do you have a friend who speaks French? Talk with him or her! 

A French restaurant or French bakery near you? Go there regularly and speak French with them! Of course you can! And besides, the French love it when foreigners try to speak their language.

Le français, langue mondiale

5ème langue mondiale par le nombre de ses locuteurs, après l’anglais, le mandarin, l’hindi et l’espagnol, la langue française est la seule, avec l’anglais, à être présente sur les 5 continents.

En 2022, sur 112 pays et territoires, 321 millions (Statistiques par pays – extrait LFDM-2022) de personnes sont capables de s’exprimer en français. Cette estimation est basée à 95% sur des sources de données particulièrement fiables.

Dans cette « galaxie francophone », 255 millions de personnes vivent sur la planète « naître et vivre aussi en français », c’est-à-dire qu’ils font un usage quotidien de la langue française, même si les contextes sont variés. Cette langue, acquise dès l’enfance, arrive plus ou moins tôt et sert plus ou moins souvent. Elle est tour à tour et tout à la fois :

  • langue du foyer et de l’école, transmise par les parents et/ou apprise à l’école, là où elle est langue de scolarisation ;
  • langue officielle (seule ou aux côtés d’autres langues) qui sert pour les démarches administratives, les relations professionnelles, les contacts avec les institutions…
  • langue sociale, quand elle permet de communiquer entre concitoyens de langues maternelles différentes ;
  • langue de communication et de culture, très utilisée dans les médias, les activités culturelles, la littérature

How can you be sure to find the right French teacher? In my opinion, the most important thing is the “feeling” you have with her or him.

Yes, because learning French language is an experience in which trust in your teacher is essential. If you have confidence, if you feel at ease, if you are not afraid to speak and if you understand the explanations of your teacher well, then it is won! You have found the right French teacher 🙂
